OS X Mavericks and iPad Air

On Tuesday, Apple announced a major upgrade to their desktop operating system and a new iPad.

OS X Mavericks is available free of charge for any machines 2007 and onwards. It is the first time any major OS X release has been free and is just a simple download from the Mac App Store. Just some of its new features include the App Nap that uses battery-power saving techniques, updates to iBook tagging, enhancements to Maps and enhanced notifications.

iPad Air is the 5th generation of the iPad tablet. The iPad Air will weigh 1 pound, down from 1.4 pounds. It is 20% thinner and 28% lighter then the current 4th generation iPad and will have the same 9.7 inch screen and the same processing chip as the iPhone 5s. It will be 72 times faster then the original iPad. The iPad Air will go on sale November 1, with prices starting at $499 and go up to $629.

While this is all very exciting, as with any new upgrade or product, we always recommend that people not rush to be the first. Give it a little time.
